I have photographs of me holding Barnabas Collins’ posters when I was five or six,” Contactmusic quoted the actor as saying.Burton has already worked with Depp on movies Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He admits that work on their new project is underway. The director reveals: “That’s the plan. There was something very weird about (Dark Shadows), it had the weirdest vibe to it. I’m sort of intrigued about that vibe. It’s early days on it, but I’m excited about it.”

New Dracula Novel on the way

Vampire-Con the world's first convention devoted to everything vampire has officially teamed up with Dracula author Bram Stoker's Family. Dracula is arguably one of the most popular characters in fiction, the first vampire horror novel and the inspiration for the current pop-culture phenomenon. For the first time since the film adaptation starring Bela Lugosi in 1931, the Stoker family has officially sanctioned a soon-to-be-released sequel to the epic novel: Dracula The Un-dead (draculatheundead.com) written by Bram's great grand-nephew Dacre Stoker and Dracula historian/screenwriter Ian Holt. Both authors will be joining the "Why We Love Vampires: A Brief History of the Undead" panel discussion, scheduled for 11:00 AM on Sunday, August 16th at The Music Box Theatre @ Fonda, Hollywood, CA. (vampirecon.com)The book has spawned a major merchandising and licensing program represented by LicenseBox, A MODA Entertainment Company. Richard Zampella, CEO of Moda Entertainment states that "We see no limit to the opportunities available for Dracula The un-Dead merchandising and licensing program. We are very excited to represent the exclusive worldwide right for this exciting franchise."Dracula The Un-Dead is the bone-chilling sequel based on Bram Stoker's own handwritten notes for characters and plot threads excised from the original edition. The story begins in 1912, twenty-five years after Dracula "crumbled into dust." Van Helsing's protege, Dr. Jack Seward, is now a disgraced morphine addict obsessed with stamping out evil across Europe. Meanwhile, an unknowing Quincey Harker, the grown son of Jonathan and Mina, leaves law school for the London stage, only to stumble upon the troubled production of "Dracula," directed and produced by Bram Stoker himself. Dracula The Un-Dead is deeply researched by historical researcher, Alexander Galant, rich in character, thrills and scares, and lovingly crafted as both an extension and celebration of one of the most classic popular novels in literature. The novel will be released on October 13, 2009 by Dutton.About MODA Entertainment, Inc.MODA Entertainment (modaentertainment.com), headquartered in New York City, is a multi-media entertainment company. Ethan Hawke a Vampire - count me in

Ethan Hawke gets his vampire on in 'Daybreakers'By Darcel Rockettfrominsidethebox gets-his-vampire-onAugust 8, 2009 3:41 PMEthanhawke_daybreakers_290 This week,"Angel" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon said how he really felt about "Twilight" lead vamp Edward Cullen, which was not much, in case you missed it.But apparently, vampires, regardless of what cache they hold, are the new Cabbage Patch Dolls of the pop culture moment. (And if you don't know about that 80s phenomenon, go ask someone of the John Hughes generation.)From HBO's "True Blood," to The CW's "The Vampire Diaries," to BBC America's "Being Human," those bloodsuckers are draining every drop they can from the current popularity. And now Ethan Hawke is getting in the game with the January 2010 release of "Daybreakers."The flick is all about a plague that has swept the Earth's population, transforming the majority into vampires. Humans are now endangered, forced into hiding as thy are hunted and farmed for vampire consumption to the brink of extinction. That is, until Hawke (Edward Dalton), a vampire researcher who is seeking his own version of True Blood -- a blood substitute to save them all. What is it with the name Edward and the undead anyway?Check out the trailer and decide are these set of vampires the new sexy...

The Vampire in Pop Fic...Twilight ect

This is a great interview of James Bradley, about 'Vampires in Fiction' from the ABC Radio National Book show with Ramona Koval.

It is about fiction not film, but most of the fiction that they talk about have been made into TV shows of films such as, Twilight, Sookie Stackhouse and Buffy. (Although, Buffy was never a book series)

Like the Harry Potter phenomenon, people what to understand why fantasy fiction and film resonates so strongly with people, particularly young adults, at this point in history.
I don't think that they really nailed it with their theory of why vampire fiction is so attractive to young girls though. I won't say anything though, you listen and see what you'all think.

A Remake on the Cards?

I'm talking Werewolves here rather than Vampires, Fangsters.
Wow, I would not have expected this one for a remake. But I suppose they figure it would be a good one to throw onto the Creatures of the Night bandwagon before it rolls out of Hollywood.

I really enjoyed this movie, I saw it only a few months ago actually - the ending though - weak, I think. So if they do a remake, hopefully they spruce up the end.
